What is Chelation Therapy?
Chelation therapy is the intravenous use of EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid) given to bind toxic heavy metals as well as to bind calcium in areas of the body where it is harmful and causing problems. EDTA also binds trace minerals. These bound molecules are then excreted via the kidneys through the urine. EDTA is a synthetic amino acid and is one of many different substances that is used as a chelating agent.

How Do I Go About Having These Therapies Done?
An initial consultation is required. In my office, this includes a constitutional homeopathic work up, naturopathic assessment, review of past medical history and family history, review of organs and systems and a complete physical exam. This appointment is two hours in length. Arrangement for blood and urine tests will be done at this time. Particular attention is given to the kidneys as they must filter out the waste products of chelation therapy. After your health has been assessed and it is determined that chelation would be indicated for you, appointments for weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions will be arranged. Blood work will be taken periodically to monitor your kidneys and liver functions during your time here.
How Many Therapy Sessions Do I Need?
For best results, 20 to 40 sessions are suggested depending on the
person and the extent of illness. After this, it is recommended that those with circulatory conditions maintain monthly or bi-monthly sessions. For those without disease and interested in preventative health, 5-10 sessions would be helpful.
When Can I Expect to Experience Results?
Some experience improvement in symptoms soon after therapy sessions have been started, and others will experience symptomatic improvement after 20-30 sessions. The maximum benefit of chelation therapy continues up to three months after a series of infusions have been completed.
A healthy diet, oral supplementation, regular exercise, rest and stress management will be addressed during the initial consultation to further improve your likelihood of success.
